DAY TRIP TO RIDDLES CREEK

After a 9am start to visit Martin & Marie at their new business " Charcoal Chicken " Riddles Creek and a few stops we finally made it. We did take a little longer than most as we decided to sight see on our way, even if it was by accidently getting lost. Was a bit scary on a dirt road after a little rain and 15kms of such. We finally made it to the asphalt again and took a left turn ending up at Kilmore.After Peter made a few inquiries he found out we should have turned right so off we went in the right direction, this does make a huge difference in getting where you intended in the first place.We sure did enjoy the scenery.Had a lovely catch up with Martin & Marie and a yummy lunch, yeh you guessed right Chicken & salad and a couple Cappiccino's The best ever[thanks Angie]

Had a good trip home with some fascinating scenery of rock formations around the Tooborac - Seymour area. On the same road on the army base at Puckapunyal we saw kangaroos which were close to plague proportion would have seen well over 1000 roos in about 7kms.
Don't know what we have done wrong with the photo of the rocks as it is supposed to be after the writing but somehow it printed at the top. Looks weird but will do, we will get better as we go on.

Paddy's Plaque - the Great Unveiling

These are a few of the photos that Del took from the day of the great unveiling, and a few of the kids helping to set the plaque to the rock the day before.

Although it was freezing cold, with a wind chill factor of about minus 10, it was a great day. About 80 or so people joined in the fun, with a large proportion of the gathering being Sheridans.

Paddy Bourkes Plaque

On Sunday 11th. June 2006 at 3.00pm a memorial stone and plaque will be unveiled to commemorate the former Burramine Hotel and Store (circa 1873-1914).

The Hotel and Store was built and operated by Patrick (Paddy) Bourke. It was located on the north side of the Murray Valley Highway 16 kilometres west of Yarrawonga.

Paddy Bourke, one of the early settlers in Burramine, was a councillor of each of the Yarrawonga and Tungamah councils also being President of Tungamah Shire.

At nearby Bourke's bend Ned Kelly and his gang crossed the Murray river (using Paddy's boat) on their way to Jerilderie in February, 1897, where they robbed the bank.

The memorial stone and plaque is to be located in the roadside rest near the entrance of the track to Bourk's Bend and will be dedicated to the memory of Paddy by his descendants,the Sheridan Family.

The family also provided a stone and plaque at the site of the former East Boundary Hotel which was known far and wide as 'The Stinking Goat Pub'.
